The time has finally come. Today, right now, we’re launching the Music Moves podcast! We’ve already given you a taste of what to expect from the program, but you may still have been wondering what exactly it would be. Well, wonder no longer. It’s here.

In this debut episode of Music Moves, produced by David Murray and Candice Weiner, we’ve got…

  • an interview with composer Nick Britell, who’ll talk to us about how music works as the soundtrack to your life;
  • a feature story on Fela Kuti’s Kalakuta Republic, and how music played a role in an attempt to found an independent state in the middle of Lagos, Nigeria;
  • a chance to get to know one of the people behind Raditaz: Chief Technology Officer Sal Gionfriddo;
  • a trip to the city of brotherly love where we’ll speak with Philadelphia musician Jim Boggia about the local music scene;
  • a few minutes road trippin’ with Bobby Matador from the experimental noise-rock band Oneida, who’ll let us know what it’s like on tour and how music factors in on those long moments of down-time between each show;
  • a playlist you helped us curate of songs for the recently broken-up and broken-hearted;
  • a song to get you through your work week; and, of course,
  • tons of music from all sorts of styles!

We’ll have some bonus features in the future, including an interview with another Philly musician – Dave Uosikkinen, drummer of the band the Hooters – in the near future. But for now, enjoy the first episode of Music Moves, brought to you by the kind folks at Raditaz.
